AARNet Bridge service ends July 15th

Hello Everyone,

As you all know, REANNZ have been providing the AARNet Bridge as a supporting service to the video conference trial while we have been testing the Radvision solution.

Recently AARNet have advised REANNZ that as of July 15th, they will no longer be able to offer this resource due to changing internal commitments. This means that as of 16th July, all video conferencing calls requiring a bridge service will need to take place on the Radvision Bridge.

We realise this situation is not ideal as the Radvision Bridge remains in testing, however we will strive to prevent any disruption to members as they move to this service.

If you are holding regular meetings on the AARNet Bridge, our recommendation would be to begin testing on the Radvision Bridge as soon as possible, providing us with more time as to help you through any potential transition issues.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesisitate to contact either AVCC (helpdesk [at] avcc [dot] net [dot] nz, 0800 666 889) or REANNZ (chris [dot] litten [at] reannz [dot] co [dot] nz).

Happy Video Conferencing

Video Conferencing Poll

Hello Everyone,

It has been about a year since we last polled the community on their preferred video conferencing solution.

As of today we have launched the same poll again to see what the current snapshot of AVCC visitors are using for their remote collaboration.

To vote on the poll, head to our front page at http://avcc.karen.net.nz and you will find the poll on the right hand side of the screen.

We will leave this up until 26th April, at which time we will post results in a similar fashion to last year.

For those of you who missed last years poll, attached is a pie chart of the results.

As we stated last year, these polls are in no way intended to produce an accurate reflection of video conferencing use in New Zealand's Universities and CRIs, but they do give us an idea of what the visitors to our website are using.
