Below is our goodbye letter to the community
Hello Everyone,
As we hope you are all aware by now, the 1st of December is the day AVCC is officially discontinuing our support for video conferencing (including the KVCS) in the research and education sector of New Zealand.
Over the last three years, we have met hundreds of users of video conferencing around New Zealand and it is with great pleasure and pride that we have helped drive adoption of the KAREN Video Conferencing Service. We have enjoyed working with KAREN’s diverse community and hearing the success stories from people using video conferencing technologies for many different applications.
We are excited about what the future holds for video conferencing technology, and we hope we have played a key role in encouraging you all to consider how you can make your workplaces more efficient and engaging through use of such technologies. With video conferencing functionality becoming integrated into a wide variety of web applications, we are sure this technology will only continue to grow and capture the imagination of people, as we discover new ways to learn, teach, and collaborate.
For everyone that has been a part of AVCC, attended our workshops, used our helpdesk, joined our mailing lists, we thank you for your feedback, criticisms, and encouragement. At AVCC we are all passionate about what we do and it is from engagement with our community that we have learnt what makes video conferencing really work - Real time support, great first experiences, frequent communication and robust documentation are all things we believe were critical to increasing the usage of video conferencing in New Zealand, as well the rapid growth of the KVCS in the last two years. As we leave AVCC behind, we hope we can continue to develop and utilise this knowledge in our future endeavors.
It is you, the people in our community that have made this three years successful and enjoyable for us. Where we have provided the information, tools and support, you have provided the energy and desire to try new things, and experiment with how you might integrate new technology into new and existing workflows. We thank you for this and hope we have met your expectations as the use of video conferencing as grown across New Zealand.
All the best, Nathan, Blair and Nick
