AVCC Starts Quality Assurance

As you are aware, REANNZ are currently in the process of establishing a new HD video conferencing bridge to provide superior quality video conferencing to KAREN members.

To enhance this service upgrade AVCC feel it is now an appropriate time to begin conducting Quality Assurance testing on H.323 endpoints across New Zealand, thus further enhancing KAREN based video conferencing.

The Quality Assurance Test is designed to verify that endpoints across New Zealand are producing good quality video and audio, ensuring that all participants in video conferences over KAREN are enjoying a top quality experience.

The Quality Assurance test is broken into 2 major components, Hardware and Room Setup.

  • Hardware covers checking that components are performing correctly and firewalls are appropriately configured.
  • Room Setup covers checking the room meets certain standards to help reduce poor quality audio and video being sent.

Initially, AVCC will be testing H323 endpoints only, but in the coming weeks, we will be developing a more comprehensive set of criteria to use in testing Access Grid endpoints in conjunction with the Access Grid Global QA Program.
