Introduction
Watcher is a service provided to registered members of the AVCC website giving them the ability to 'watch' posts in certain areas of our website, thus being alerted to changes in content or comments from other users as it occurs.
This may be useful for users who wish to stay informed on tutorials which may be updated over time, forum posts they make, events that are taking palce on the event calender, or news items which other users are commenting on.
Watcher has several options which a user can configure, including setting Watcher to email them as pages on their watch list are updated.
Watching a Post
Watching a post is simple. When logged on to the AVCC website, at the bottom of certain pages a message will be displayed which says 'Ýou are not watching this post, click to start watching'.
Clicking this link will automatically add this page to your list of watched posts.
Managing Watched Posts
From your My Profile Options Page (available from the top menu on the right under My Options), you can access your watched pages by clicking the My Watched Posts control tab. This will open another set of tabs below, specific to watcher. These Watcher tabs are Watched Posts, Settings, and Help. Watched Posts is selected by default.
With the Watched Posts Tab selected (highlighted in green) a user will see all posts they have chosen to watch listed by order of most recent update or post.
This view will show when the most recent Post was added, when the page was updated, and whether you have email notifications turn on or off. To change the status of email notifications, click the envelope icon.
To stop watching a post altogether, click the rubbish bin icon next to the relevant post.
Configuring Watcher
Clicking on the Settings tab in watcher will bring up various configuration options, most of which are self explanatory. the image to the right shows the default settings watcher will have when your account is created. The only unticked option by default is Share my list of watched posts which will allow others to vie the posts you are watching.
Finally, the help tab will bring you back to this page.
